My fifteenth birthday. I was just starting to get an inkling of the pivotal time the next eighteen months was going to be. I was right on the cusp of turning my entire life around.

By the way, my hair is not short in that picture, it's just pulled back. I had absolutely no concept of how nice-looking I was then; I was very much task-oriented (as I am now), and so most days I just got my hair out of my way so I could get things done. I wasn't what you'd call a girlie-girl. I wasn't interested in dating or sex or social things. I just wanted to play the piano and write music, and that's pretty much all I did.
